Following two amazing years of BeeHive so far we are all so excited to embark on our third year together!
As before, each term will end with an Awards Ceremony where the children will be presented with certificates for all their hard work. Our last session of the year will not only be a celebration of all their achievements but also the end of year show. Our Bumblebees will put on a performance showcasing all they've learn throughout the year and the whole show will be written and directed by them!
This year our Bumblebees will have the opportunity to take turns looking after our class pet Lezziz the bunny! Towards the end of the year we'll also have a sports day, as well as lots of fun group outings throughout the year. CREST STEM Challenges, Garden Club, STEM Lego Club, Challenge Badges, Nature Club and so much more!
~
Last year the children completed the Star award as part of an accredited STEM programme. The CREST Award is the British Science Association's flagship education programme and is considered a high quality recognition of success in STEM.
Following the 8 week programme the children were each awarded the STAR Award.
This year they'll continue working towards earning the Superstar Award and from there they'll be able to progress through the various CREST Award levels up to the age of 19.
The children will work towards collecting various challenge badges, similar to Scout badges. They'll have specific tasks to complete and once they reach their goals they'll be awarded a sew on patch to stitch on to their BeeHive apron. See below for all the badges they can earn!

The children will work together on a year long project to build an edible & sensory garden.
They'll take ownership of their garden by decorating it using handmade nature crafts such as wind chimes & water features as well as planting, growing and harvesting their own fruit & veg. They'll also collect seeds to plant again for the next season and learn cooking skills by preparing meals using the produce they've grown.
We're very excited to be able to offer the next stage of the 8 part STEM based Lego programme called First Lego League from Lego Education. As they progress through the programmes they'll learn to design, code & create solutions using Lego.
Last year we introduced the children to the basics of STEM through hands on activities via The Discover Programme. This year we'll have a short recap then progress on to the Explore stage where they'll build robots and use a dedicated app to program them.
